FAQ

What chapters ask before signing up.

How much does GreekPad cost?

+

Start your dashboard for $5 — that's a one-time setup fee that puts the chapter into Testing Mode so you can set everything up internally (build the intake form, import brothers, design pages, draft messages). When you're ready to actually run rush, you activate a plan: $14.99/month, $79/semester (6 months, matches rush cycles), or $149.90/year (two months free). The $5 you paid upfront gets credited to your first plan invoice, so it's not double-charged. Activating unlocks everything — unlimited PNMs, bid voting, intake editor publishing, calendar, presentation mode, scheduled SMS, the works. 10 SMS credits per month are included free with any plan; they don't stack month-to-month. Need to send more texts? Buy a credit pack — five sizes from $15 (100 credits) up to $399 (15,000 credits). Purchased credits never expire.

Why do you charge $5 upfront?

+

It's earnest money — it tells us the chapter is real and that someone on exec actually wants this. The $5 gets credited straight to your first plan invoice, so you don't pay it twice. It also keeps tire-kickers out so we can focus support on chapters that are actually rushing. Refundable for 14 days if you change your mind, and after that it stays on file as credit toward any plan.

What is Testing Mode?

+

Testing Mode is what your chapter sits in right after you pay the $5 setup fee. You get full access to the dashboard — you can build out your intake form, import your brother list, design your chapter pages, and draft messages — but the public-facing features stay locked until you pick a plan. That means no published intake form, no live voting, no presentation mode, and no sending or scheduling SMS. It's the setup-without-pressure phase. A banner at the top of the dashboard makes it obvious you're in Testing Mode and gives you a one-click 'Activate' button when you're ready.

When does my plan actually start billing?

+

Billing starts the day you click 'Activate' from the Testing Mode banner and pick a plan. That opens Stripe Checkout — once it succeeds, the chapter moves out of Testing Mode and every feature unlocks immediately. The $5 setup fee you paid earlier sits on your Stripe customer balance and gets applied to your first invoice, so the real charge is your plan price minus $5. Recurring billing runs from the activation date (monthly, every 6 months, or yearly depending on plan).

Can I get a refund on the $5?

+

Yes — the $5 setup fee is fully refundable for 14 days from the day you paid. After 14 days it's non-refundable, but it stays on your account as credit toward whichever plan you eventually pick. To request a refund inside the 14-day window, email reed@greekpad.com and we'll process it through Stripe (refunds usually land back on your card in a few business days). When the $5 is refunded, the chapter goes back to a pre-paid state.

When does SMS launch?

+

We're in the final compliance steps for A2P 10DLC carrier registration. Realistic timeline: weeks, not months. Every chapter with an active dashboard gets a heads-up email a week before SMS goes live, and access flips on automatically the day it does.

Will SMS cost extra?

+

Texting runs on credits — one credit per text. 10 free credits are included every month with your subscription. Need more? Top up with a credit pack any time: 100 credits for $15, 500 for $50, 1,000 for $70, 5,000 for $145, or 15,000 for $399 (best value). Per-token cost drops sharply at the 5,000-pack — so a credit pack you buy in August can carry you through the whole school year.

Who actually sends the text messages — the chapter or GreekPad?

+

GreekPad. Every text is sent from GreekPad's registered 10DLC platform on behalf of the chapter whose content is being delivered. The chapter writes the message and selects recipients — like an author writing a newsletter — but the sender of record, the entity that handles the consent capture, dispatches the message, manages STOP/HELP, and is accountable for SMS compliance, is GreekPad. When you opt in on a GreekPad form, you're consenting to receive messages from GreekPad about the chapter you signed up with.

How do recipients opt out, and what happens when they do?

+

Replying STOP to any GreekPad text permanently removes that number from chapter sending. STOP is recognized at the carrier (10DLC) level, so further messages to that number are blocked regardless of what any individual chapter does. The recipient gets one confirmation reply and no further texts. Replying HELP returns a short message identifying GreekPad as the sender and pointing to reed@greekpad.com.

Is my phone number shared with anyone?

+

No. Mobile information collected for SMS opt-in is never shared, sold, or rented to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are stored in GreekPad's database and only passed to Telnyx (our 10DLC carrier) to deliver the actual text. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Do I have to agree to texts to join a chapter or submit an intake form?

+

No. SMS consent is always optional. The consent checkbox is off by default on every form, and you can submit the form without checking it. If you don't opt in, you won't receive any texts about that chapter — exec will reach you another way.

What about for sororities?

+

GreekPad works identically for fraternities and sororities. Try the sorority demo from the homepage to see it set up for recruitment rounds. The product, pricing, and support are the same.

Can my whole chapter access the dashboard?

+

Yes. Each chapter gets two passcodes: a member passcode (anyone can read PNMs and add notes) and an exec passcode (voting, bid night, exports). Drop the member passcode in your group chat — that's it.

Where does my chapter's data live? Can we export it?

+

Your data lives in our Supabase project (Postgres on AWS). It's never sold, never shared, never used to train AI. CSV export is built in for bid lists, and full account export is available on request.

What if our chapter dissolves or we want to leave?

+

Email reed@greekpad.com and we'll delete your chapter and all its data within 24 hours. No retention games.

Can we use GreekPad for events besides rush?

+

Yes — the calendar handles any chapter event (philanthropy, mixers, bid day, founders' night). PNM tracking is rush-specific, but the calendar + member directory work year-round.

How do you compare to Chapter Builder / OmegaFi / GreekTrack?

+

Those tools manage finances, dues, member rosters. We're laser-focused on rush + recruitment workflow — the part those bigger platforms ignore. We're also dramatically cheaper and built for phones first.
